UCR community urged to use Google AI tools | Inside UCR

UC Riverside’s Information Technology Solutions (ITS) team emphasizes data security by promoting university-approved artificial intelligence (AI) platforms. UCR has secured a pivotal enterprise agreement with Google, offering protected access to generative AI tools like Gemini and NotebookLM. These tools ensure that any uploaded data—ranging from unpublished research to email communications—remains private and is not utilized for training AI models.

Gemini functions like ChatGPT, while NotebookLM allows users to manage their documents efficiently, significantly reducing inaccuracies in AI responses. In addition, UCR will soon launch the Grove, a central search assistant using Gemini Enterprise to streamline information access across campus. This tool aims to mitigate data overload for faculty, students, and staff.

UCR’s enterprise agreement positions it as a leader in secure AI deployment for educational purposes. For optimum security, users must utilize their official UCR accounts. Stay updated at its.ucr.edu for further resources and guides.
