A recent survey conducted by the Ministry of Digital Transformation gathered over 136,000 responses, leading to the selection of ten name variants for Ukraine’s new AI language model. The top choice narrowly edged out “Slovo,” while “Homin” took third place. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Kyivstar, aims to create a national large language model (LLM) with beta testing slated for late spring this year. LLMs, powered by neural networks, excel in text generation and understanding by analyzing vast datasets. Leveraging Transformer architecture, they generate coherent responses for applications like chatbots and translation services. The introduction of a domestic language model is crucial for enhancing security, as foreign LLMs may overlook Ukrainian nuances and be susceptible to misinformation. This localized AI development is set to benefit critical sectors such as defense, medicine, and finance.
