ChatGPT launches AI Action Portraits to rival Nano Banana trend

OpenAI is reconsidering its pricing strategy for ChatGPT, indicating that “unlimited” usage plans may soon be unsustainable due to the increasing resource demands of AI technologies. Nick Turley, the Head of ChatGPT, highlighted during the BG2 Podcast that the current flat subscription model is temporary and will likely be revised. Currently, ChatGPT operates with a mix of free and paid plans, including the Plus and Pro tiers that offer enhanced performance, and a cost-effective Go plan in India that includes ads. Turley likened unlimited AI access to “an unlimited electricity plan,” emphasizing that it is impractical as operational costs rise. OpenAI is exploring more aligned pricing models such as metered billing and tiered usage to balance access and expenses. This initiative reflects a broader trend, as other tech giants, including Microsoft and Google, are also moving towards consumption-based pricing for AI services.
