New research by VerifyLabs.AI highlights significant concerns about non-consensual deepfake imagery among UK residents, particularly younger individuals. A survey of 1,000 adults revealed that 35% worry about deepfake nudes or videos, with this figure rising to 50% among those aged 16 to 34. Additionally, 36% expressed anxiety regarding the effects of deepfakes on family and friends. Financial risks are also prevalent; 55% fear scams or fraud related to deepfakes, while 47% worry about sophisticated business fraud.
In response to these issues, there is a strong demand for detection tools, with 57% willing to use a deepfake detection service provided by trusted entities. VerifyLabs.AI has launched its Deepfake Detector suite, aimed at empowering individuals to identify AI-generated content effectively. The tool operates with up to 98% accuracy, analyzing media for subtle signs of manipulation, and is currently available as a browser extension and iOS app, with plans for an Android version.
