Visa has launched six AI tools to enhance credit card dispute management in response to rising dispute volumes, which surged to over 106 million globally in 2025—a 35% increase since 2019. The tools are designed to minimize manual processes and utilize automation for better decision-making. Three tools are focused on merchants, helping intercept disputes preemptively, automate responses with generative AI, and clarify transaction details. Updates to the Order Insight product enable merchants to provide additional evidence in fraud cases. Meanwhile, issuers and acquirers benefit from predictive AI for case analysis and document review within a unified platform. Andrew Torre, Visa’s President of Value-Added Services, emphasized the need for improved systems to manage disputes effectively. While some tools are available now, others will roll out by 2026, including a comprehensive dispute management platform for North America. This initiative aligns with the financial sector’s broader adoption of AI while addressing concerns about accuracy and consumer protection.
