Gretchen Whitmer announced a historic multibillion-dollar investment for an artificial intelligence infrastructure facility in Michigan, marking the largest single investment in the state’s history. The OpenAI Stargate project, developed by Oracle and Related Digital, aims to create over 2,500 union construction jobs and 450 permanent positions, with an additional 1,500 jobs anticipated regionally. This state-of-the-art facility, rated as one of the top AI infrastructure sites in the U.S., will emphasize sustainability by utilizing existing power sources and a closed-loop water system, ensuring no impact on the Great Lakes.
