YouTube has outlined its key priorities for 2026, focusing on AI-driven creation tools and viewing enhancements. The platform aims to combat “AI slop” and deepfakes more aggressively while promoting transparency. With over one million channels using AI tools daily, YouTube is enhancing content moderation and exploring AI-generated content, including Shorts that feature creators’ likenesses. The company emphasizes that AI is a tool for creativity, not a replacement, and is committed to requiring disclosures for synthetic media. Additionally, YouTube plans to evolve its Content ID system and support legislation aimed at curbing deepfakes, ensuring a safe environment for users, especially kids and teens. As YouTube continues to support creators financially, having paid over $100 billion in recent years and contributing $55 billion to GDP, it remains dedicated to elevating user-generated content while integrating AI responsibly.
