Airbnb is currently testing an innovative AI-powered search tool with a select group of users, as revealed by CEO Brian Chesky during the fourth-quarter earnings call. This initiative is part of the company’s ambition to create an “AI-native experience” to enhance trip bookings for guests and improve listing assistance for hosts. The AI tool aims to facilitate a more conversational booking process, allowing users to describe accommodation needs in natural language and directly inquire about listings and local amenities. Although still in testing, Airbnb plans to evolve this technology into a more intuitive search experience throughout users’ trips. This follows the introduction of an AI customer service chatbot last year, which has successfully managed one-third of customer inquiries autonomously. Chesky anticipates the chatbot will increase its ticket handling significantly and plans for global expansion.
