In a statement to Bloomberg, Apple clarified that the App Store showcases thousands of apps through various charts, algorithmic recommendations, and expert-curated lists based on objective criteria. Musk, founder of xAI, accused Apple of an “antitrust violation,” asserting that it hindered visibility for his apps, X and Grok. He threatened legal action, questioning why these leading apps weren’t featured in the “Must Have” section. Notably, apps like DeepSeek and Perplexity have reached the top of Apple’s rankings, indicating fair competition. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman countered Musk’s claims, suggesting that Musk has been known to manipulate platforms for personal gain. Musk, in turn, dismissed Altman’s remarks, branding them as dishonest. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions between major tech players in the evolving AI landscape.
