The district’s Committee of Academics, Innovation, Evaluation, and Technology will develop a “tiered framework” to manage AI’s application in assignments, outlining usage limits for students. Miami-Dade, the nation’s third-largest school district, is adopting AI tools like Google’s Gemini, emphasizing the necessity of clear guidelines as technology evolves. Superintendent Jose Dotres stated that AI is essential for career readiness, enabling students to maximize learning and enhance understanding. The committee will also develop resources for families to promote responsible AI usage at home and propose disciplinary actions for misuse. Recommendations for the new guidelines are expected by October 1. This initiative reflects the growing importance of AI skills in the modern workforce.
