Microsoft (MSFT) is partnering with Harvard to enhance its Copilot AI assistant’s health-related responses, indicating a strategic shift to lessen dependence on OpenAI. Starting later this month, Copilot will feature licensed health content from Harvard Health Publishing, improving the accuracy and trustworthiness of medical queries. Dominic King, Microsoft’s VP of health AI, aims for Copilot to match professional healthcare response standards as current AI capabilities fall short.
This collaboration forms part of Microsoft’s broader initiative to establish its independence in the AI space, with past investments in OpenAI totaling around $13 billion. Tensions regarding OpenAI’s public offering and exclusivity terms have prompted Microsoft to explore in-house AI models, including technology from competitors like Anthropic.
As a result, Microsoft boasts a “Strong Buy” rating from 34 analysts, with a target price of $629.22, suggesting a 20% upside potential for MSFT stock.
