Recently, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg attempted to poach Andrew Tulloch from Thinking Machines Lab, which was founded by ex-OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. Although Zuckerberg offered a staggering $1.5 billion over six years, Tulloch chose to remain with the startup, recently valued at $12 billion following a $2 billion seed funding round. Meta has continued its aggressive strategy by offering $250 million to researcher Matt Deitke, who initially declined a $125 million offer. The AI talent war isn’t exclusive to Meta; Microsoft has also hired numerous employees from Google DeepMind, including Amar Subramanya, while Google has recruited talent from AI startup Windsurf for its DeepMind division.
