OpenAI has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to become the first customer of TCS’s data centre business, starting with 100 megawatts of capacity. This collaboration is part of the ambitious $500 billion Stargate initiative aimed at developing AI data centres for training and inference. TCS recently announced a strategic shift, planning to invest up to $7 billion in a 1 gigawatt data centre unit in India, further boosting its capabilities in the AI space. India is experiencing a surge in AI infrastructure investments from global companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, alongside local giants such as Reliance and Adani Group. Additionally, Tata Group intends to implement ChatGPT Enterprise across its workforce, involving hundreds of thousands of employees, enhancing productivity. OpenAI’s ChatGPT enjoys immense popularity in India, with over 100 million weekly users. This partnership underscores the growing importance of AI infrastructure in the global market.
